2020 Breakfast Program and Food Pantry Partners

HILLTOP COMMUNITY CHURCH | RICHMOND, CA

Providing breakfast food to low-income familes and seniors in responce to the pandemic outbreak. Funds will purchase milk and cereal as well as expand the garden sharing program. The garden sharing program takes excess produce from congregants gardens and shares them with those in need, hence reducing food waste and increasing access to fresh local produce. 

ST. ANDREW PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH FOOD PANTRY |
MARIN CITY, CA

The St Andrew Presbyterian Church Food Pantry has received increased need due to the COVID-19 emergency. Funds will purhase food to supply the pantry and ensure those who are in need of food assistance through this season are not left empty handed. 

SEED RELIEF | MILL VALLEY, CA

Partnered with Rodef Sholom, Seed Relief has been preparing over 500 organic, plant-based, weekly meals. This pop-up meal pantry supports Venetia Valley schoolchildren and their families, 80% of whom are experiencing COVID-19 related unemployment. Funds will aid Seed Relief in continueing to provide healthy meals for this commnity. 

CENTER FOR FOOD, FAITH, AND JUSTICE | BERKELEY, CA

This education program gives students access to healthy breakfast while educating participants on how to design and launch a triple bottom-line (people, planet, profit) food business. Participants graduate with a foundation in basic Culinary Arts, urban farming, business basics, food handling skills, financial literacy, and leadership. Funds will contribute to buying healthy breakfast foods and expanding the student education program. 

PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF THE ROSES | SANTA ROSA, CA

Presbyterian Church of the Roses has built community with their neighbors by providing a breakfast program for the past 19 years for a local high school. Funds will aid in purchasing food to provide students with warm. nourishing, free breakfast. This program engages volunteers and offers a supportive environment for students. 

SAN GERONIMO COMMUNITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH |
SAN GERONIMO, CA

This is the 6th year of San Geronimo Community Presbyterian Church’s Honor pantry. Open 7 days a week, this pantry has distributed over 125,000 pounds of food annually. The pantry is all volunteer based and open to individuals and families in West Marin communities. Funds will support cleaning supplies and a downpayent for a new refrigerator. 

FOOD OF GOD FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD | OAKLAND, CA

This Oakland based non-profit serves food to the homeless community on a weekly basis. Funds will help ensure that this community receives fresh, local produce. The non-profit provides food for 100 individuals and is committed to providing healthy and warm prepaired meals. 

GILROY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH | GILROY, CA

Funds support a community garden for teen girls in the Advent Ministries group home recovering from substance abuse addictions. Growing vegetables that the young women will eat is not only intriguing and educational to them, but it is therapeutic, teaches life skills of planning, following through, and delayed gratification. Most of the girls live in urban apartments and have never grown anything, let alone healthful, organic food. The group home serves approximately 20 girls over a six month period.
